1830

Repulse Fire Company formed - Bucket Brigade

1842

Wesleyan Seminary Fire

1853

Model School for Boys Fire - Dalton Road & College Street

1858

Jediah Commons Inn burned - Main Street and Plank Road

Repulse Fire Company reorganized into the "Lima Centennial Fire Department," made up of three companies:

  • Extinguisher Company - 80 gallon tank on 2 wheels

  • Hook and Ladder Company - a wagon with ladders

  • Pumper Company - hand operated pump

History of the Lima NY Fire Department

1879

Fire Hall relocated to Rice Block; new fire hall built

Fire bell purchased and installed on roof of fire hall

1880

Western House Inn fire - first Fire Code Law enacted: All inns and taverns to have 5 leather fire buckets filled and ready for use

Hand drawn chemical cart purchased

Hand drawn chemical cart purchased and put into service

Bell tower rebuilt following fire at the Silas Hickory farm

1900

Water work system installed in Lima - water supply under pressure now available

1902

Protectives Company formed - made up of the M. P. Allen Hose Company and the Eureka Hose Company

Presbyterian Church steeple fire

First motorized equipment purchased

  • 1927 Childs Foamite Pumper

  • 1927 Brockway Hook and Ladder Truck

First electric fire siren installed

Packard Square Car purchased

1948

Ambulance Squad formed - first ambulance purchased

Lima Fire Department Rescue

1969

"Lake Lima" - acquired 3,230 gallon tanker truck

1975

Lima Fire Bell dedicated to the people of Lima at the Bicentennial Celebration

1985

75' aerial truck purchased from Pittsford Fire Department

1990

Moved to current fire house, originally Hayes and Andrews Ford Dealership, 7286 West Main Street
